Toilet Training

Housebreaking guidance, toilet routine, timing, supervision, home structure, and clean habit development.

What This Training Covers

Toilet Training Isn't a Skill — It's a Habit

Toilet training is a consulting-based program available only to puppies still in the pre-vaccination window and their families. It's delivered hands-on and works best alongside whichever other trainings your puppy is already going through. The focus is on guiding your dog correctly, and without breaking its spirit, toward clean habits — the right routine, the right timing, and the right supervision, built into your home's real daily structure rather than a generic schedule.

This is a habit that should be fully in place by around four to five months of age. A dog that has already entered adolescence and is still struggling with toileting doesn't have a toilet-training problem anymore — it has a behavior problem, and needs to be evaluated and addressed through behavior modification alongside habit-rebuilding.

Routine, timing, and supervision built around your home

Hands-on guidance, not just written instructions

Works alongside puppy training and crate training

Best completed by 4–5 months of age

Issues past adolescence signal a behavior problem, not a habit gap

Why It Matters

What Looks Like a Toilet Problem Rarely Is One

In our evaluations, what a family describes as "a toilet problem" is, more often than not, something else entirely — fear, anxiety, a medical issue, or a behavior pattern that's been unintentionally reinforced. Confusing the two means the wrong fix gets applied, and the real problem goes untreated while the family grows more frustrated. That's why ICONK9 treats toilet training as its own evaluated program rather than a footnote inside general obedience — get the routine right early, and it rarely needs revisiting.
