General Obedience is built for dogs that never went through the ICONK9 system before — dogs that are already adult, carrying their own history and problems, and now need to be adapted into structured training from a later starting point. Since the earlier stage-by-stage obedience work wasn't completed on schedule, it isn't realistic — or fair to the dog — to retrace those same steps with the same pacing used for a dog raised inside the system from puppyhood.
Instead, General Obedience consolidates the content and commands from Basic and Advanced Obedience into a single, complete program suited to where the dog actually is today, not where it would have been if training had started on time.

Plenty of families come to ICONK9 with a two, four, or six-year-old dog and assume the "good window" is long gone. It isn't — dogs remain capable of real, lasting behavior change well into adulthood, but the training approach has to account for years of existing habits, not a blank slate. General Obedience exists specifically for that reality: a program that respects what the dog already carries with it, while still building it toward the same reliability standard as a dog trained from puppyhood.
