Advanced Obedience is for dogs that have successfully completed — or are on track to complete — the other trainings in the ICONK9 system. Instead of waiting on the handler for every instruction, the dog is taught to read the situation and make the right choice on its own. That shift also builds what we call environmental cues: the dog starts responding to the world around it, not just to a spoken command, and develops a stronger ability to read and manage different situations independently.
Come, recall, and wait are trained here in a way that lets the handler simply enjoy being with the dog rather than constantly directing it. Unlike Basic Obedience, this program includes real off-site work — parks, streets, public spaces — because reliability that only exists inside a training room isn't reliability yet.

A dog that behaves perfectly in a quiet training room and falls apart at a café table or a busy sidewalk hasn't finished its training — it's finished the easy part. Advanced Obedience exists because real-life reliability requires exposure to real-life distraction, and because a family's actual goal is rarely "obeys commands" — it's "I can bring my dog anywhere." That's the gap this program is built to close.
